Ryan is a proud, home-grown Toowoomba local, having completed both his secondary schooling at St Joseph’s College (where he served as School Captain) and his tertiary studies at the University of Southern Queensland. During his time at university, Ryan was President of the USQ Law Society and first-place winner of the university’s mooting competition—early achievements that signalled his aptitude for courtroom advocacy and leadership.
Ryan joined MacDonald Law in 2020 and will become a director of the firm in March 2025. Admitted as a solicitor in 2020, he holds Legal Aid Queensland Duty Lawyer accreditation in both criminal law and domestic and family violence law—an area in which he is deeply committed to helping clients navigate often life-altering legal challenges. His people-first approach shines through in every case he undertakes, as Ryan remains focused on positive outcomes for each of his clients.
He is an active member of the Downs & South West Queensland Law Association and believes firmly in the strength of a collegiate team environment. Beyond the legal sphere, Ryan is a keen sportsperson, playing social cricket around Toowoomba and fitting in a round at the Toowoomba Golf Club whenever possible. His dedication to sport mirrors the qualities he brings to his legal practice—hard work, teamwork, and a keen pursuit of the best result.
